The Community Health Nursing Department at the Faculty of Nursing, University of Baghdad, organized a scientific field visit to the Ministry of Industry and Minerals/General Company for Textile and Leather Industries (Al-Qutniya Factory), under the direct supervision of the department’s teaching staff and with the participation of fourth-year students.

The visit included a field tour during which students listened to a detailed explanation from factory department officials about production lines, textile manufacturing mechanisms, and approved quality standards. Special emphasis was placed on occupational safety procedures, methods of preventing potential risks in the workplace, and health programs implemented to protect workers and ensure their safety.
The visit aimed to introduce students to the industrial work environment in a realistic way and to provide them with first-hand knowledge of working conditions and health and safety requirements within production facilities. This initiative is part of the field training plan of the Community Health Nursing Department, which seeks to link theory with practice and enhance students’ understanding of occupational health concepts and how to apply them to ensure a safe working environment.

This scientific activity is in line with the college’s commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, specifically Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being), by promoting health and preventive awareness in different work environments. It also contributes to the achievement of Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), specifically the target of promoting safe and stable working environments for all workers, which reflects the essence of the occupational health nursing specialization.
